One frustration many pastors’ wives face is the expectations placed on them by church members. What was supposed to be her husband’s job also becomes hers, as she finds herself chairing committees, leading the women’s ministry and working in the nursery on Sunday. She’s also expected to be a model wife, mother, and Christian.
More than one pastor’s wife has said it seems that the church assumed she would be part of a 2-for-1 special when they hired her husband.
Think about your church. Are there any written or unwritten expectations placed on your pastor’s wife? Are they fair? Are they realistic? If you’re not sure, why not #BeTheOne to invite her out for a cup of coffee to ask her about it.
Take the time to care for and pray your pastor and his family. The health of your church depends on it.
