Parr Investments: Always welcoming you home

“Love Where You Live” is much more than just a catchy play on words to the professionals who make Parr Investments more than just an apartment management company. It’s their mission, yes, but it’s also a way of life.

When Chris Parr, owner and CEO, founded the company in 2001, he brought with him a strong foundation in the construction industry and also experience building custom residential homes. Leading his own successful flooring business since 1994, when he installed carpeting in new apartments, he also brought insight as to what made these apartment communities so successful. Chris launched his first Parr development, Bromley Park Apartments, in Winston-Salem soon after.

Today, nine outstanding apartment communities make up the Parr Investments family, and Chris has put together a team of positive, caring professionals at each complex who never stray from the quest of keeping that feeling of “home” at every newly signed lease. That core philosophy—Love Where You Live—is their main goal for every resident.

“This was easily our slogan as we talked about what was important to us as a company,” says Rhonda Roth, president of Parr Investments, who has been involved in the apartment industry since 1999, and whose extensive management background has prepared her for creating innovative approaches to providing the absolute best customer service, while inspiring her employees to do the same.

“We want people to feel like they are at a resort—with all the amenities a resort offers—but adding that special touch of home,” she explains.

The team also realizes that each of their apartment communities is unique. Chris operates with a very hands-on approach to this business and devotes a great deal of time to planning the layout of every new community, and making sure the apartments offer a unique, desirable living space based on the needs of that particular location.

“We feel each property has its own personality,” says Rhonda. “It is exciting and rewarding to be able to develop that and watch them grow from the ground up.”

Construction has just been completed on the 224-unit first phase of Parr’s newest community—The Reserve at Smith Crossing in Kernersville—with construction of the second phase scheduled to begin in the fall of 2017. Located right off I-40 at the Union Cross exit, there will then be 372 total units at The Reserve at Smith Crossing, which has quickly become a welcome addition to the landscape of the fast-growing Kernersville area, itself attracting businesses and families alike with its small-town feel. Yes, thanks to the enormous appeal of the geographic location, an unmistakable community spirit, and the easy proximity to the larger cities of Winston-Salem and Greensboro, The Reserve at Smith Crossing is an ideal home for people at any stage of life. “We have residents who have formed some great friendships and have created their own dinner clubs and game nights,” says Rhonda.

“It is very rewarding to help people find a place—whether temporary or long-term—where they feel at home,” says Rhonda. “One of our main sources for new residents is through referral from current and previous residents, and that is a direct reflection of the wonderful environment my staff creates and the quality homes that Chris has built.”

Chris Parr says the growth for 2017 has already begun.

“We have acquired three future property sites: The Reserve at Brookberry Farms in Winston-Salem, and The Grand at Union Cross and Welden Park, both in Kernersville,” he explains. “Between the three new properties Parr Investments will be adding 913 apartment homes to our current 2010 units under management, and Parr Construction—our sister company—will be building the projects over a five-year period.”
