Calvary Baptist Day School (CBDS) is looking forward to the 2015/2016 school year with great anticipation and excitement. With strong leadership and a renewed vision, CBDS is implementing some exciting new programs and initiatives.
- The 1 to 1 Technology Initiative In the fall of 2015, CBDS students and teachers in grades 9 – 12 will receive Google Chromebooks.
At Calvary Baptist Day School, we educate in the present but train and equip students to succeed in the future. As the world rapidly transitions to an interconnected globalized community, educators must equip the future generations with the skills to access, analyze and effectively disseminate vast amounts of information. Google Chromebooks and the Google Classroom platform will provide CBDS teachers and students with the technology to foster communication, collaboration, and cooperative learning as we prepare students to enter the increasingly digital workforce of the twenty-first century.
In preparation for this technology initiative, many of the upper school teachers are currently using the Google Classroom technology. This platform provides the opportunity to significantly enhance learning outside of the classroom.
After using Google Classroom for several months, teachers and students have reported the following benefits:
More efficient communication
No more lost assignments – everything is stored digitally
Ability to cover more information in greater depth
Increased class participation and student preparation outside of class
Increased opportunities for collaboration
Additionally, the 7th and 8th grade computer classes have implemented new instructional programs to enable students to fully utilize a variety of Google products. This expanded technology curriculum is building the foundational skills necessary for these students to fully harness the educational power of the Google Chromebooks when they enter high school.
- New 2 year old Early Education Class In the fall of 2015, CBDS will offer a new 2 year old Early Education class that will meet Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday or Five mornings/week (Must be 2 years old by July 1st.) Through caring, well-trained teachers who are devoted followers of Christ, children will have the opportunity to explore God’s world and thrive as they participates in a wide range of developmentally-appropriate activities that include special classes in art, music, and physical education in addition to our language-enriched, biblically-based curriculum. Children at CBDS have the opportunity to interact, learn, play, and create through a variety of hands-on explorations.
