This issue we celebrate our 10th anniversary of being in print! November 2007 was our inaugural issue featuring the Bralley and Johnson families and the story of how it all came to be. My dear friend Keela had begun Forsyth Woman magazine just two short years earlier, when I found myself downsized from my corporate job at Hanesbrands, Inc. after 22 years. I was lost on what to do next, but my angel sister Keela gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to start what you know today as Forsyth Family Magazine. I had no idea how to publish a magazine, nor did I have a journalism degree. Just a passion for the community I’ve called home my whole life. I’m not always the most polished person, but I’m genuine and try to always do things “from the heart.”
To say it takes a village is an understatement! Countless hours are spent by many folks every month to bring each issue to you. Account executives, writers, editors, photographers and distributors. I thank each and every person who has a part in getting this magazine to print each month. I especially thank the advertisers and readers who support us, for without you, there would be no magazine.
November was an appropriate month to begin this venture, as I am thankful beyond words to all those that took a chance on the idea that a publication such as this would be well received and thrive in our community. Thank you for an amazing ten years!
The November cover features one of my dearest advertisers, Dr. Tina Merhoff and her beautiful family. She is an amazing pediatric dentist and her love for the Lord is apparent in all that she does. November brings to mind Veteran’s day, small business Saturday and of course Thanksgiving!
I love Thanksgiving and look forward to celebrating with my family with the usual Thanksgiving fare. Whether you cook a Thanksgiving dinner yourself or dine out, I wish you the most wonderful Thanksgiving holiday ever!
