Heartful, Healthy & Happy: Make The Most of Your Summer!

Whether solo or with others, home bound or traveling, indoors or out, stay healthy, cool and have fun this summer living your best life and giving back. Get creative as you beat the heat, creatively contribute, treat yourself and your loved ones, and have a happy and healthy summer!

BE HEARTFULLY HAPPY HELPING OTHERS, SUPPORTING YOUR COMMUNITY & MAKING OUR WORLD A BETTER PLACE

One of the greatest things in life is heartfully giving to others and supporting those in need. The more you give, the more you’ll get back (sometimes as blessings in disguise) and the more you’ll grow. But, don’t let your primary motivation be giving to get. Get in touch with who and what matters most to help you decide which cause(s) to support. Let your efforts come from the heart because you genuinely want to help and make a positive difference.

Don’t feel the pressure to save the whole world like a superhuman, even though you are a super human! Remember you don’t have to be Mother Teresa, but you can certainly learn from and model after her. Every little bit of good counts. Start by feeling and desiring to help others, but don’t forget yourself, and honor your own needs along the way.

CONTRIBUTE TO A GOOD CAUSE & CELEBRATE SUMMER WITH AN EVENT

A good reason to party is just a good cause away! Tie it in and creatively contribute with an event you host or help plan or sponsor. First, decide which cause. There are unlimited causes, but who and what are most near and dear to your heart? Consider urgency and relevance of who and what you want to support before you start planning your event.

Grandfather struggle with Alzheimer’s and dementia? Are you encouraging a friend combatting cancer? And remember, people aren’t the only ones needing support. Does it make you happy when a four-legged fur baby escapes abuse and finds a loving home? Or maybe you’d prefer to focus on saving sea turtles and providing healthier habitats for other marine wildlife. Don’t forget the environment with its direct impact on our health and quality of life. Planting trees, eliminating pollution, toxic waste and litter, and purifying drinkable water can have a positive impact on generations to come.

What would appeal most to the people you’re trying to reach? Possibilities are limitless. Here are some event ideas to get you started: art auctions, dance parties (with live music, DJs), karaoke, comedy/spoken word/poetry slam/open mic, spa party, boutique bash, tea parties, dining out at local restaurants, 5Ks and 10Ks (walkathons, runathons and triathlons), book drives and bake sales.

GREEN THUMBS — GET GROWING WITH EDIBLE, DELECTABLE GARDEN GOODIES

In this bountiful summer season why not plant an outdoor garden of edibles (herbs, salad greens, veggies, fruit, and even grow your own tea). Plot out your garden on paper first, do your research on gardening tips, and don’t forget to save those tea leaves for composting.

BEAT THE HEAT WITH ICED TREATS

It’s hot out there, so stay cool this summer and treat yourself to healthy chilled treats that help you beat the heat. Head over to ForsythWoman.com, and type keywords “beat the heat” into the search box to check out two articles on summer cocktails, mocktails and frozen treats to beat the heat with nutritiously delicious recipes to try!

EMBRACE YOUR EARS WITH SUMMER SONGS & SOUNDS

Whatever your musical tastes, from classical to classic rock; any genre/style of your choosing or sounds from nature’s symphony (e.g. ocean waves, bird songs, crickets and frogs), load up those listenables. Put together your stay-home or on-the-go playlists that’ll embrace your ears and celebrate summer! Title your playlists according to the lifestyle and/or mood(s) you’re creating, like uptempo danceables in “Jump & Jive,” “Movin’ & Groovin,’” “Burn Some Calories” and lo fi chill-ax tracks in “Chill-axables,” “R & R & B” or “Real-axation.”

This is the season to remind yourself how loved, special, worthy and needed you are as you celebrate heartful causes and enjoy chilled sippables accompanied by the special sounds of summer.
