Triple Threat School of Dance, Music and Acting

Looking for an outlet for children with energy interested in trying something new? Triple Threat School of Dance, Music and Acting offers a preschool camp for ages 3–5 which focuses on creative movement, tumble, music and crafts. The week-long camp for ages 5–12 is designed to introduce all that Triple Threat has to offer students. “Campers will focus on ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, musical theater and drama,” said owners and directors Kim Moser Hobson and Holly Smith. “We also provide a technique week for a more intermediate or advanced dancer. We also offer summer private music instruction in piano, voice, guitar and violin. Camps are a valuable experience for children, no matter what camp they do or where. It gives them the opportunity to try and learn new things and, hopefully, spark some new interest in the art of dance, music or acting. Also, they get to make new friends. It helps with each child’s confidence and self-esteem to try new things and to be exposed to new settings.”

Have a future Albert Einstein in the family? Merriwood Christian Camp

There are not many summer camp options for children of all ages. Merriwood Christian Camp offers quality programming for rising 1st graders through graduating seniors! “Merriwood Christian Camp is the ‘camp around the corner,’” said Administrative Assistant Hannah Baucom. “We focus on the camper/counselor relationship, placing emphasis on small groups, team building challenges, skills classes that bump their comfort zone and a structured program that keeps campers involved and engaged all week.  We offer activities such as water trampoline, blob, high ropes, climbing wall, bounce house, swimming pool, canoes and paddleboats…as well as personal and group Bible study times.  Camp is a life-changing experience, as campers have the opportunity to learn new skills such as archery, trail biking, model rocketry, drama, riflery, fishing, outdoor cooking…and more, depending on what camp they choose.  Campers also have a sense of accomplishment, as they may climb a 48-foot tower, go off a swing of a 44-foot high ropes course or get bounced off a blob into a lake. Camp is a valuable experience for youth due to the combination of so many things: being away from home, a positive and safe environment, new skills and opportunities, innovative and unique games, zany activities and counselors, and staff with boundless energy committed to giving the camper the best week of his or her life.”

Wilson Park Athletics and Training Center

Many of us remember summers spent at various sporting camps…mostly because the time spent there was an endless supply of fun playing and training in our favorite sports and activities with close friends and teammates! Coaches Dave McConnell and Derrick Speas teach
camps and classes at Wilson Park Athletics and Training Center during the summer months. “Wilson Park Athletics and Training Center is a new fitness center geared for all ages and all levels of fitness,” said Dave McConnell, coach and trainer. McConnell has 30 years of experience in coaching and training, and Speas has taken eight track teams to the state championship while also working as a U.S. Olympic speed skating trainer and NFL trainer. “Adult blitz classes specialize in weight loss and optimal fitness, while team camps and classes specialize in young athletes reaching optimal performance levels in strength, speed and agility.”
