With talented professionals whose backgrounds are as varied as the dream homes they pair clients with, Team Overbey of Keller Williams Realty Elite in Winston-Salem has found success by relying on each other’s strengths, and a common bond with clients—clients who typically become friends!
Debbie Lavoie-Overbey shares how the team has evolved. “My husband, Bill, and I joined Keller Williams in the beginning of 2018 [the two came from different firms], and the Team was established shortly after we saw our business grow exponentially in 2018. All but one of our current members has been with us since 2019, and we have over 100 years of experience among us.”
Bill and Debbie insist the team’s major “secret weapon” for success is how much they learn from, and grow right along with, each other, and share insights based on their very distinctive backgrounds.
“We bring it all back to the Team,” she says. “It truly is a supportive environment, where everyone succeeds together.”
She explains how they attend every inspection, and every consultation for repairs, bids, etc.—with a Team motto: “never leave a client wondering!”—and how they continue to care and communicate with clients long after the sale of their home, often attending family events, such as weddings and baby showers. Their company website features community highlights as well, as they welcome new residents to the area, and proudly showcase all that Winston-Salem and the surrounding area have to offer anyone looking to call the Piedmont Triad home.
“The area we serve is vast,” says Debbie. “We have agents from Greensboro to Concord, to Yadkinville, to Stone Mountain, and throughout Stokes and Forsyth counties.”
Experts in first-time home buying and residential sales, Bill is also a licensed surveyor and registered forester—with over 30 years of experience in not only residential real estate, but also subdivision development, assessing land tracts, and timber valuation. For Debbie, real estate is not only her career, but also her passion, and her impeccable standards of client care take center stage all throughout the process. Her experience in residential, land, small farms, investment property and property management is the key to making her clients’ goals a reality!
On to the rest of Team Overbey! Renee Bovender is instrumental in running the Team behind the scenes, encouraging them to provide the highest level of client care. Rhonda Nelson, a lifelong resident of the area, has been voted Triad City Beat’s Realtor of the Year and is nominated for the Yes Weekly Realtor of the Year. Bob Merritt offers a tenured background with 28 years in the real estate market, while Brent Moser, born and raised in Winston-Salem, is one of its biggest advocates, and is now serving on the board of the Ardmore Neighborhood Association. Daniel Crudup, who moved to Winston-Salem for college and never left, extends his passion for the community by most recently becoming an advisor on Forsyth County’s Equalization and Review Board, and being strongly involved with the Delta Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and Protocol Director for the Southeastern Region and the Special Events and Fundraising Coordinator for both the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Pan-Hellenic Council and the Winston-Salem Chapter of Winston-Salem State University. Karen Van Meter, the newest team member joining in early 2021, has had much success in her early career with assisting sellers and buyers to make their real estate dreams come true. With an eye for strategic recruitment, Debbie explains the goal of rounding out the Team by filling gaps where they see a service needed by clients—whether they are looking to buy, sell, or invest in real estate.
In a market that absorbed and adapted to so many obstacles over the last year, she says the most significant challenge for current real estate professionals is not having enough homes to sell! But with a continued focus on teamwork, sharing a common vision, and giving back to the community, Team Overbey is moving forward in 2021 with more energy and enthusiasm than ever.
