V’s Barbershop – Excellent Service, Excellent Price, Excellent Experience

28ff-IMG_0453-sfwMy dad loved Saturdays. After a long work week, Saturday meant time on the golf course, a night out with my mom, sports on TV and a trip to the barbershop. Every few weeks, he went for a haircut; but every week, unless he was sick or we were on vacation, he was there for a straight-razor shave. He loved going. It was not an errand, it was a chance to catch up with neighborhood friends, talk sports and relax. Back then, even though we lived outside a major city, our neighborhood was like a little village with locally owned shops. You knew the proprietors, and they knew you. Over time, things changed, as small neighborhood shops disappeared and, along with them, that special relationship—until now.

V’s Barbershop has brought back to the communi ty that wonderful experience that has been missing for too long, but with so much more! When Adam Thomas was looking for a new business venture, he knew he had found the right one in V’s Barbershop. The brainchild of Jim Valenzula back in 1999, Thomas brought the franchise to Winston-Salem as the first North Carolina location in 2013. Two years later, men are coming from all around to enjoy a haircut and shave from true professionals who are fully licensed and board-certified.

“All of the barbers at V’s are professionally trained and are full-time employees,” said Adam Thomas, owner. “Unlike many other shops, our barbers are committed to working here. They ar28ff-IMG_0446-sfwe not interested in going from one place where they rent their chairs to another with that same setup—they are dedicated and professional; consistency is important and relied on. Every male that comes here gets personal treatment—we are bringing back handsome.”

Although filled with the charm and nostalgia of barbershops in the past, V’s has elevated the experience by blending the old-time charm with a unique, upscale contemporary style. V’s Barbershop is a men-and-boys haven with its sports memorabilia, comfortable chairs, plenty of hot towels for that relaxing shave, and the personal treatment. V’s brings back that long lost barbershop of old, with added services that ramp it up for today’s men. At V’s Barbershop, each chair is equipped with the client’s own HD-TV that can be put on the channel of his choosing, free Wi-Fi, free coffee and free soft drinks. Instead of having the client hold a hand mirror and try to see how his hair looks from different angles, V’s records it allowing him to easily see his perfect cut. Beside the best haircut in town, V’s also prides itself on the best straight-razor shave. While a haircut comes with a neck shave, there is also the kind of shave my dad went for every week. Using the finest products available and a number of hot towels, this experience will leave the customer wondering why it took him so long to come in, and have him leaving with a standing appointment.

With a28ff-IMG_0431-sfwll that V’s has to offer, the assumption would be that it is expensive—never assume! “We are quite competitively priced, even with our perks and personal treatment,” said Thomas. “Men get a great haircut with a neck shave for $21; boys’ haircuts (8th grade and below) are $15; our fantastic shave is $25; and seniors (ages 62+), veterans, police and firemen, all get a 20% discount. We also offer a beard trim, moustache trim, facial and massage, shoeshine and package deals. We sell the latest and greatest in products for men, and gift cards. The key to our success is customer satisfaction, and we have a 4.96 positive experience rating out of a possible 5. If our client isn’t happy, we’ll make it right or give him his money back.”

While walk-ins are welcome, it is possible to phone for an appointment or book one on-line. For the latest promotions from V’s Barbershop, it is as easy as “liking” and following on FaceBook. With everything V’s has to offer, it makes me wonder why men would go anywhere else.
