WinShape Camps Hosting Fun, Fellowship, and Future Leaders

Summer is just around the corner, and if you’re searching for an unprecedented experience for your child—perhaps with a little something special—you owe it to yourself and your family to explore WinShape Camps.

Established in 1985 by Truett Cathy, founder of Chick-fil-A, the WinShape Camps’ philosophy focuses on developing future leaders from a young age, with summer adventures that blend a mosaic of worship, leadership building and skills training. This one-of-a-kind day camp experience for kids who have completed 1st through 9th grade isn’t dubbed the “best week ever” without good reason! Its mission unites area churches and other local organizations in the common cause of changing the lives of area youth.

Last year, in Winston-Salem’s inaugural year as a camp site, the organization provided scholarship help for over 75 local children in need and hosted a total of 240 kids for its day camp. Held at a spacious facility on Country Club Road, the Winston-Salem camp will again be one of 90 locations hosting WinShape Camps around the country this summer. The much anticipated week—August 1st‒5th, 2016—is a true community effort with ties and outreach to all areas of the city.

An amazing week of WinShape day camp offers a full range of fun Monday through Thursday from 7:45 a.m.– 5:00 p.m., and on Friday—affectionately known as Chick-fi-A Friday Family Fun Day—parents, grandparents, and other family members are encouraged to join their campers for lunch, courtesy of Chick-fil-A. Those five full days of unprecedented excitement and adventure will offer your child endless activities!

Your campers will learn and explore their potential strengths in archery, basketball, cheerleading, gymnastics, soccer, lacrosse, music, painting and crafts, plus the always popular wacky science and secret ops—all designed for various age and skill levels. As a bonus, campers also make new friends for life, strengthen bonds, nurture their budding leadership skills, and experience Christian love through Bible study and worship in a positive setting that inspires growth and encouragement.

Owner and operator of Chick-fil-A’s Thruway location, Jade Costen, shares his thoughts on what makes the experience so special: “WinShape Camps provide an appropriate age agenda for kids having completed first through ninth grade and offer an elite camp experience,” he says. “Chick-fil-A is happy to assist and provide support for this great community event that invests so intentionally in the next generation.”

Combining both day camp experiences and one-and two-week overnight camps across the country, WinShape reached out to over 23,000 campers last summer. The happy, overwhelmingly positive result of this national endeavor has been the emergence of energetic youth striving to reach personal goals, and future leaders being molded with the arrival of each new summer session.

Join in, explore WinShape for yourself, and discover what is unique about this phenomenal opportunity. It’s no secret that some pretty amazing things can happen during your Best. Week. Ever.
